International Conference held on the occasion of the 80th Anniversary of the End of World War II

Trauma, Hope, and Illusion. Cities at the End of World War II and in Post-War Transformation

We kindly invite you to submit papers for the international conference, which aims to explore the end of the Second World War and the first years of post-war transformation in the context of Czech, Czechoslovak and European cities. Here we see cities not only as sites of action, but also as key actors of social, cultural, political and economic change.

This meeting offers a space for the exchange of views between different disciplines and allows for the presentation of current research projects. The conference also promotes cooperation and exchange of experiences between researchers and memory institutions from different countries.

We welcome contributions from disciplines such as history, political science, sociology, urban planning, cultural anthropology, art history, museum pedagogy and economics. The programme will also include keynote lectures and discussion panels.

Details on the organizational guidelines and thematic areas can be found in the attached file.
