The Museum of Prague's Main Building is an architectural monument inscribed on the list of cultural monuments of the Czech Republic. It was built in the Neo-Renaissance style after the design of the architect Antonín Balšánek for the Museum of the Royal City of Prague during 1896–1898.

About the Museum of Prague's Main Building

More effective efforts for the foundation of the municipal museum date back to 1877 when, on 26 October, Deputy Mayor Professor Otakar Antonín Zeithammer notified the city council that many individuals and societies sold antiquities documenting the history of Prague to agents who took them abroad. He recommended collecting these objects in one place, a newly built museum.
